If Sime Darby liquidated all their land and assets today, shareholders would walk away with a massive windfall since the book value is heavily understated compared to current market prices. However, holding for the long term is better because their steady automotive and industrial businesses generate reliable dividends far beyond just a one-time cash-out.
Sime really just dead weight hanging around the portfolio while waiting for some magic catalyst that might never even show up. Unless they dump their assets or do some major shakeup, better to just cut loss and find greener pastures elsewhere.
Sime really just stagnant move like a tortoise while the rest of the market flying past us. Better off dumping this dead weight and putting your capital where it can actually grow instead of rotting in this portfolio.
