Izwan brings over 29 years of experience spanning finance, corporate planning, strategy, commercial management, operations and technology. He began his career with Arthur Andersen in Sydney in 1997 before joining PETRONAS in 2000, where he served in Corporate Finance, Group Accounts and Group Treasury in its subsidiary, MISC Berhad. He subsequently held several senior positions within AET Group, including roles in finance, planning and corporate development.
 
In 2013, Izwan assumed responsibility as Head of Corporate Finance in PETRONAS before joining the President's Office in 2017 as Executive Assistant to the President & Group Chief Executive Officer. In 2020, he was mobilised to PETRONAS Energy Canada Limited (PECL) as Chief Financial Officer, overseeing finance, strategy and commercial portfolios. He was appointed as President & Chief Executive Officer and Country Chairman for PETRONAS in Canada in 2022.
 
During his career, Izwan contributed to the integration and restructuring of AET following its acquisition by MISC, supported significant Group funding arrangements and project financing initiatives, led PECL through a production growth phase and managing capital allocation amid challenging market conditions. His assignments across Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Singapore, London and Calgary have also provided him with broad international and stakeholder experience.
 
Since October 2024, he has served as Vice President, Group Technology & Commercialisation, where he leads PETRONAS' transformation of its AI and digital ecosystem, as well as its research and development ecosystem. He currently serves as Director of PETRONAS Gas Berhad and various subsidiaries within PETRONAS Group.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, United States. He is a Fellow of CA ANZ and a member of MICPA and MIA.
