Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) is now fully owned by the Gateway Development Alliance (GDA) consortium following its privatization and delisting from Bursa Malaysia in February 2025. The current GDA consortium owns the vast majority of MAHB shares through the following ownership breakdown:Khazanah Nasional Berhad: 40% stake (via UEM Group Berhad), Employees Provident Fund (EPF): 30% stake & Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA): 30% stake (partnered via Global Infrastructure Partners). The Malaysian government retains a special golden share status to oversee and protect national strategic interests and airport sovereignty and will be aware of AAGB current financial situation (in the event of large amount owing and overdue to MAHB) via their special golden share status in MAHB. Early this year, Air Asia Phillipines successfully averted a shutdown order issued by the Phillipines aviation regulator after it settled its outstanding airport charges (US$4.7m only).
